TOWN OF PORTER ANNUAL MEETING MINUTES-APRIL 19, 2005

The Annual Meeting was held at the Town hall at 7:00 p.m. Town officials present was Chairman Dave Viney, Ron Arndt, Jerry Fox & Nancy Towns. Rhoda Sanderson was absent. There were 6 residents present.

The 2004 Annual Meeting minutes were read. Arndt moved, Fox seconded to accept the minutes as read. Passed.
The 2004 Annual Financial Report was reviewed. Al Sweeney moved, Russell Jeske seconded to dispense with the line-by-line reading. Passed. Basil Remley moved, Jeske seconded to approve the 2004 Annual Financial Report as read. Passed.
Arndt reviewed the tentative plans for the Town road maintenance. Snow removeal for 54.5 miles is $500/centerline mile or $27,250. Our total transportation budget for 2005 is $165,625.
The annual tire collection day will be May 21, 2005. Star Used Tire Disposal will be the provider at $150/ton. In 2004, $1671 was spent to remove 11.14 tons of tires. Ed Miller will help Ed Julseth on tire day.
Onyx Waste will be the service provider for the Recycling Center for the 2005 year. With a bid of $2.65/cu. yard of solid waste, $9.25/dump for the cardboard receptacle and $150/rolloff on the co-mingle dumpster. We are in the 2nd year of a 3-year contract. Recycling Center hours are on Saturdays, from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Glen Polich would like to see an educational meeting on proper recycling. He added, it would be beneficial to have a clean-up day and possible plant some shrubs, so the recycling center is not an eyesore.
Residents were reminded to call the fire district number before they burn. If they don’t call ahead and the fire dept. comes to the burn site they will be liable for the fire call cost of $500. The Edgerton and Evansville Fire District number is 757-2244.
Sweeney reviewed the final draft of the Smart Growth Plan and announced a Public Hearing on April 26, 2005.
Sweeney moved, Liz Diedrick seconded to allow the Town Board to set the mill rate for the 2006 tax year and hold a special town meeting to comply with state mandates. Passed.
Clark Graphics will design the website. With completion planned for 8-12 weeks, for a total of $1500.
Arndt has a plan for the handicap accessible ramp and bathroom, which must meet state compliance by January 1, 2006.
Walter Diedrick moved, Remley seconded to set the 2006 annual Meeting on April 17, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. Passed.
Remley moved, Diedrick seconded to adjourn the Annual Meeting. Passed.
