Town of Porter Board Meeting Minutes 1/21/08

TOWN OF PORTER BOARD MEETING MINUTES 1/21/2008 Chairman Viney called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.  Present were Viney, Fox, Hamilton, Towns, Sanderson.  Also present Sweeney, Jeske and 2 residents.  Minutes:  Viney read the Board meeting minutes from 12/17/07.  Fox moved, Hamilton seconded to approve.  Passed 3-0. Receipts & Expenditures:  The December 2007 receipts (5878-5883) and the January 2008 expenditures (checks 7972-7991) were reviewed.  Hamilton moved, Fox seconded to approve.  Passed 3-0. Treasurers Report:  Sanderson reported the account activity as of December 31, 2007.Checking Acct:  $2,083.01Money Market: $36,069.92LGIP: $38,213.68Tax Account: $332,696.59Grant Acct: $2,943.01Working Acct: $2,003.87Hamilton moved, Fox seconded to approve.  Passed 3-0. Fire District Updates:  Evansville:  Hamilton reported that there was one appeal.   Budget for the new fire station is around $2,000,000.    Edgerton: Viney reported that they are bargaining with the union.  Ken Crandall has resigned and Brian Demrow is acting Chief. Recycling Center Report:  Miller reported $438 in solid waste disposal fees.   Building Inspector/Zoning Report:  Jeske reported $100 in permits & applications for the month. Greg Vanthournout: 28×40 pole shed: $100 Fox stated that a dog ordinance would be hard to enforce, because it’s difficult to control barking dogs.  Lisa Brickson mentioned that John Ahrens may be non-compliant on his zoning code, because he may have enough dogs to constitute a kennel.  Viney and Hamilton will talk to John about his dogs.  Hamilton moved, Fox seconded to have the Plan Commission review the current noise ordinance and discuss updating. Highways:  Hamilton moved, Fox seconded to pay the remainder of the Rock Road bill of $16,123.70, but we refuse to pay the attorney fee.  Passed 3-0.  Hamilton moved, Fox seconded to send the attorney bill to Bob Kennedy of Rock Road.  Passed 3-0.   Town Hall:  nothing to report. Hamilton moved, Fox seconded to adjourn at 7:56pm.  Passed 3-0 Respectfully submitted, Nancy Towns, Clerk  approved 2/18/2008
