TOWN OF PORTER APPROVED BOARD MEETING MINUTES

2/20/2006

Chairman Viney called the meeting to order. Present were: Fox, Viney, Hamilton, Towns, Sanderson, Sweeney, Jeske, and 2 residents. Perry Folts, candidate for Rock County Circuit Court Branch 7 Judge was also in attendance.

MINUTES: The January 16, 2006 Board Hearing minutes were read. Corrections were: Sweeney, on behalf of the Plan Commission, recommended approval. Hamilton moved, Fox seconded to accept the corrected minutes. Passed. Viney read the minutes from the January 16, 2006 Board meeting. Fox moved, Hamilton seconded to accept the minutes as read. Passed.
RECEIPTS & EXPENDITURES: The January 2006 receipts (8252-8256) and the February 2006 expenditures (checks #7485-7512) were reviewed. Hamilton moved, Fox seconded to approve the receipts and expenditures. Passed.
TREASURERS REPORT: Sanderson reported the account activity as of January 31, 2006. Checking Account: $99,875.35; Outstanding checks: $32,966.54; Local Government Investment Pool: $58,744.93; First Nat’l Bank Tax Acct.: $366,699.20. Fox moved, Hamilton seconded to approve the treasurers report. Passed.
FIRE DISTRICT UPDATES: Evansville: Hamilton reported that land South of Evansville, previously considered for purchase, is still available for a new building. Edgerton: Nothing to report.
HIGHWAYS: After the road tour, Viney reported that the roads are in very good condition. Brush letters have been sent out. Fox presented two bids for the box culvert extension of Fox Rd. Concrete Structures, Inc. gave a bid of $7342 for both sides. Yeske Construction gave a bid of $6000. Hamilton moved, Fox seconded to table the acceptance of bid, until further information is collected on Fox Road. Passed.
RECYCLING CENTER: Nothing to report.
BUILDING INSPECTOR/ZONING REPORT: Jeske reported $1275 in permits & applications for the month. Rick Zehren-House/Driveway: $675; Mel Shotliff-42×60 shed: $50; William Wartman- 12×24 shed/electric: $100; Robert Degner-BOA: $100; Kyah Norton-CUP: $350.
Peter Burno has removed some steel near the road, the semi is parked at the property.
TOWN HALL: Magee Construction is making nice progress on the ramp & bathroom. Fox moved, Hamilton seconded to accept the RA Heating maintenance contract. Passed.
OTHER: Hamilton moved, Fox seconded to appoint Keith Axford to the Board of Adjustment. Passed. Stanley Vielhuber was given the Oath of Office for his term on the Plan Commission. Hamilton moved, Fox seconded to accept Resolution #06-01 (attached) for vacating an alley in Cooksville. Passed 3-0.
Fox moved, Hamilton seconded to adjourn. Passed. The next meeting will be Monday, March 20, 2006 at 7 p.m.

RESOLUTION # 06-01- TOWN BOARD OF THE TOWN OF PORTER
Supervisor Hamilton introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption. RESOLVED by the Town Board of the Town of Porter, Rock County, Wisconsin: Whereas, a Petition has been received by the Town Board of the Town of Porter from nine (9) Cooksville residents requesting the vacation of the alley running east and west from Church Street north to the vacated Webster Street south, halfway between Highway 59 and Church Street west, now closed; and Whereas, the alley is located in the middle of Lots 1 through 14, Block 9, Original Plat of Waucoma, Village of Waucoma, Town of Porter, Rock County, Wisconsin and Whereas, a map is attached hereto and incorporated by reference showing the alley to be vacated; and whereas, a public hearing was held by the Town Board of the Town of Porter on April 14, 1992, and the Petition was accepted; and Whereas, all of the owners of the adjacent alley had petitioned for the vacation of the alley. Now, therefore, it is hereby moved, seconded and adopted by unanimous vote by the Town Board of the Town of Porter that the alley legally described herein shall be and hereby is vacated. That this Resolution shall be recorded with the Register of Deeds of Rock County, Wisconsin, to formally vacate said alley. Dated this 20th day of February, 2006. Seconded by Supervisor Fox.
